I asked a question in the anxious and brave chat. What is the hardest part about anxiety for you? Constant worrying Physical sensations Feeling like anxiety stops you doing the things you want to do self-doubt And I found the results really interesting. I genuinely thought one answer would stand out more clearly but it was actually really balanced. And I think that says something really important. Because the key reflection for me is just how differently anxiety can show up from one person to the other. We often talk about “anxiety” as if it is 1 single experience for everyone. But in reality it can look and feel super different but each of us. For one person anxiety may be stuck in the mental overthinking, the what if loops, that feel impossible to switch off from. For someone else it may be the physical sensations, the heart pounding, the dizziness, the constant feeling on edge in the body. And for another, it may be the way anxiety shrinks their life and limits their choices. So if anxiety looks different for everyone it makes sense that what helps one person may not help another. And this may be why so much anxiety advice online can feel unhelpful, confusing or that it doesn't quite fit your experience. Maybe you have read something that makes complete sense logically but when you try it it doesn't really help you. And maybe it is not because you are doing it wrong, it simply doesn't help you with how your anxiety shows up FOR YOU. Maybe we need to focus on less about what techniques should I use and instead explore more about what does anxiety look like for me and what part of the cycle shall I focus on? When we can understand that, it becomes more about finding the right support for your own experience rather than what is the perfect tool and technique for me? And if you don’t know where to start, that is why I created the Anxious and Brave subscription Club. Weekly check-ins with me to help you make sense of your anxiety and what to do next, so you don’t have to keep guessing or feel stuck. Message me for more details of this is for you.
