What is good mental health in everyday life?
When we talk about mental health, we often jump straight to thinking about mental illness, like anxiety, depression, burnout or having some form of diagnosis.
However, mental health is like physical health. You can have no illness and still feel unfit, run down, or simply not at your best.
Mental health works in much the same way. It affects how we deal with life and its challenges, how we relate to others, how we handle emotions, and how we think and make decisions.
When something does become too much, reaching out for support is part of looking after your mental health.
The mental health tip I would like to share with you today is this - take a moment to notice what already helps you through a hard day. What do you find supportive, soothing, encouraging and helpful?
It could be a person, a routine, getting outside or having some time on your own.
Knowing what already helps you, will enable you to reach out to that resource, skill, person or routine to support your mental health in the days you need it most.
