I just got back from an appointment I’d been putting off for a while. Going to the doctor or dentist gives me a lot of anxiety. It’s that mix of feeling trapped, not being able to leave easily, and having all the focus on me. Honestly, it just makes me feel pretty awful. Last year I skipped it altogether, but since I’ve been working on facing fears lately, I decided it was time to go ahead and make the appointment. During the appointment, I definitely felt a little antsy. At one point my anxiety spiked, but I caught myself, reminded myself it was just nerves, and kept in mind that I was safe. By the end, I actually felt great :) My husband had an appointment, too, which ended up taking longer than expected, so I was in the waiting room by myself for about an hour and even then, I handled it just fine. Honestly, it turned out to be one of those things you expect to be really hard, but it’s so much easier once you just do it :)
