I had a weekend where I allowed myself to discover the new me. It didn’t start that way, anticipation had me spiralling with anxiety knowing a friend was coming to visit. My brain did its usual routine: “What if I can’t handle it? What do I do if I panic?” But guess what? We laughed. We talked. We had drinks in the backyard, and I actually enjoyed myself. Then, as the weekend wrapped up, I did something I haven’t done in years: I rode a bike. I took my daughter to the park and pedaled beside her, and for a moment, I felt completely alive. I’ll be honest, we don’t talk enough about the weight gain that can come with this journey. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, and that bike ride could’ve felt like a defeat. But it didn’t. It felt like a win. A big one. This weekend reminded me that I can still create joyful moments, even with all the fear and heaviness I carry. And today… I’m proud of myself.
