I’m late to this blog but I’ve been struggling with panic disorder for about 2 1/2 years. When it first began, I couldn’t leave my house at all due to the panic attacks mixed with derealization I would get. Back in May, I had a big Europe trip with my family (minus my “comfort person”). I panicked about that trip for months leading up to it. It felt like every day it got closer the more I wanted to back out. The non stop thoughts of “I’m going to be trapped across the world with no escape” consumed me. I asked everyone I knew if they understood how I felt but no one did. I felt spoiled for being afraid of a vacation! And yet, words cannot express how badly I did not want to go. I tried to sleep the entire flight there to escape the feelings of panic and dread. This picture was taken on the flight. The plot twist? I had an amazing time. I rode in a glass gondola 15,000 feet up a mountain. Push yourself and do not ever let anxiety win!
