I was invited to my old university to talk about mental health in a guest lecture. When I first got the invite, I thought that I would not be able to do it. Even though I talk a lot online, I have never presented to a live audience, I thought that I didn't have the skills to do it. I worried about messing up, embarrassing myself, disappointing everyone, and seriously considered not doing it. I felt so anxious thinking about it, and that's what made me realize that I had to say yes and take this as an opportunity. I was nervous about my presentation, and when I finally did it I felt that others could tell I was nervous, I made mistakes, felt awkward, my heart was racing etc. BUT I was allowing these feelings to happen, and I was okay with the uncomfortable and awkward feelings. In the end, people said that I looked natural and comfortable when presenting, and didn't notice the awkward moments or mistakes like I did. It was really a great experience and I am so glad I did it!
