I feel a little silly sharing this since it’s rarely talked about outside OCD forums, but OCD and anxiety are so tightly linked that maybe someone will relate. I’ve struggled with contamination anxiety for years, it’s where my anxiety began and was worse when I was younger. Over time I learned it wasn’t just a “quirk,” but a symptom of OCD. Lately it’s crept back: my brain tells me the food I grow might be unsafe, maybe the soil or fertilizer isn’t good enough, or it’s “dirty.” I’ve caught myself avoiding the veggies I’ve nurtured all year. I know these thoughts are false alarms, so I’m challenging them by eating what I grow. Today I had garden zucchini with chicken sausage and quinoa :) It was delicious, and while it spiked my anxiety, I’m fine. We’re always fine, our brains just send false alarms. Sorry the photo doesn’t look the best lol but it was pretty yummy
