Last week i had to go to university for my classes, but I was anxious since morning and felt scared of nothing. I drove there and was expecting to have a panic attack at any moment. I reached the building, took the elevator, and went to find a seat. I sat and for a moment I started thinking that this panic attack doesn’t define me. Being feared for no reason, sweaty, shaky is not real me. It is just a temporary situation that will go in few minutes. This is not me and panic attack doesn’t define me. I felt a kind of control over the symptoms and was able to retain calmness and overcome the situation. This phrase of “it doesn’t define me” was new way of thinking to me and I’m planning to keep saying it to myself every time I will experience a panic attack. Thank you for your time to read my short story!
