I have had a lot of anxiety this week (work has been intense), and it’s been a while since I’ve struggled with it. This time, I didn’t support myself well when I first started feeling anxious and stressed and ended up spiralling for days. I had a long weekend booked off work anyways and was visiting my family for the weekend so I did everything I planned on doing anyways: a big bike ride around the city, went for 3 different hikes in 3 days, and even did a day trip to a neighbouring town (when all I wanted to was sit in bed)!! I did it all with all the symptoms that I haven’t had for a long time (dissociation, intrusive thoughts, anxiety attacks, dizziness, NAUSEA - I love my dad’s cooking so this was the worst, will have to make up for it next time). I’m so proud, but also it taught me that sometimes even if I don’t properly handle a spiral (which happens), I’ll be okay. It’s an opportunity to relearn my toolkit 😊 no longer scared of experiencing intense anxiety again!
