My anxiety with cars goes deeper than just driving, being a passenger can be just as tough, especially on long trips. A lot of it comes from feeling trapped, like I can’t just leave if I need to. Pulling over doesn’t feel safe, but home does, so the farther I get from that comfort zone, the more uneasy I feel. Today, my husband and I drove an hour to pick up his friend from the airport. I could’ve stayed home, but I chose to go. My anxiety was mostly manageable until the airport traffic hit, but I’m proud I came. It’s uncomfortable, yes, but I know I’m safe and each time I do this, I get stronger. This is your reminder that you’re stronger than you think, too! Now I’m just hoping his friend comes out soon lol but these are just feelings and they’ll pass. Plus, I’m going to suggest we stop for food on the way back, another challenge for me, but hey, I need to eat!
