Yesterday I felt like doing something different and outside of my comfort zone. I made the impromptu decision to just get into the car and see where I end up going. I decided to go to this cafe I live 10 minutes away from; I didn't feel comfortable going too far but I wanted to go far enough where I felt like I was doing something new. I visited a cafe I hadn't been to in a long time, and sat by myself, in this crowded room, drinking some tea and eating a scone. I will be transparent, I did feel pangs of anxiety when I couldn't find parking (loss of percieved control) and when I realized I was the only one sitting alone but I ended up eating half of my scone (huge win since I used to deal with phagophobia) and sitting there for 45 minutes. It was ironic cause another lady came in to sit by herself too, it felt the universe was saying, "hey you're not alone, you're not weird for sitting alone." I also ended up visiting a pumpkin patch and carving a pumpkin afterwards because I built up some confidence from the cafe visit. Very proud of myself! Couldn't have done this a year ago. 🍵
