This win might not sound like a win but today I got laid off from my job. I knew this was coming, and I was welcoming of it because I was deeply unhappy at this organization. My nervous system couldn't thrive in an environment where I had changed managers every four months (I have had total of 4 managers in a year). My body felt unsafe in meetings, in completing tasks, and in trust colleagues. Anxiety has a way of communicating with us, telling us the things that we already know deep down. This morning I saw a calendar invitation for a meeting, and I knew this was it. I was shaking, felt nauseous, my heart was racing, but I showed up and I was there for myself today. I'm actually very proud of myself for getting through this job and being on the other side of it. The win, for me, is recognizing that my body and my anxiety deserve to be heard especially in unhealthy work environments. I feel lucky to have been spared anymore discomfort at work ❤️ Time for new energy!
