We welcomed our first child, Haven into the world on Friday via caesarean section! My partner was extremely brave, but I had real concerns that I wouldn't be able to stay by her side and would avoid entering the theatre for surgery, or even leave halfway through due to a panic attack or fainting. I even cried the night before, because I was so scared and I was imaging all of the worst case scenario's and believing them as if they were reality. But in the end, I knew that I had to be brave for my partner, even though I was clearly nervous and shaking, the surgeons where very professional and knew what to say to keep my mind away from the negative. Everything was so well explained and all the staff and doctor's were so positive and calm, and that really helped. After the surgery was underway, I stayed by my partner's side and made sure she was okay. When the baby was delivered, I was able to go and meet her, and by then, ALL of my anxiety was completely gone! I felt that my partner was in extremely safe hands, and I was with her and I was now meeting my new baby! I was in pure joy by the end, smiling, and ready for this new chapter of my life with my beautiful family! I am lucky to have people that motivate me, people who help me to face fears because I can put myself second, and show up for them, but if you don't feel like that is the case for you at the moment, remember that there are others in your position who could benefit from seeing your story, your success in pushing through. Sometimes motivation is the hardest part, and we need to find the things that motivate us to face our fears head on, not without fear, but despite it. Welcome to the world baby Haven 🥰
