I had two quite major panic attacks across two days in a row due to the heat. A few years ago I would have seen this as a failure. They were public, felt embarrassing, and very terrifying. But people were kind and even offered me water and to help, most did not notice, and I recognize that I was safe the entire time, even if it felt like I wasn't. Now when I have panic attacks, I don't see them as a bad thing, I see them as another piece of evidence that I am okay and can handle tough situations, and a chance to learn. I am more confident in the heat thanks to these panic attacks that I was before them, and that's great!
