Hello everyone Are you scared of getting a panic attack while on a plane? Here are some tips to help you manage this: 1. Understand what is happening in your body. During a panic attack, your fight-or-flight response kicks in. Your brain thinks you’re in danger, even when you’re actually safe. Try not to fight uncomfortable body sensations, because the less you fear those sensations, the less power they have over you. 2. Challenge anxious thoughts. Instead of thinking, “The plane will crash, and I’m going to die,” try replacing that thought with something more realistic, such as, “Flying is statistically one of the safest ways to travel.” (it is) 3. Practice gradual exposure. Before your flight, watch videos of take-offs, landings and turbulence. This can help your brain become familiar with these experiences and learn that they are a normal part of being on a plane. 4. When you fly, take something comforting with you. You could make your own relaxation recording, or a voice note, with you giving yourself encouraging messages you can listen to, during the flight. You can watch the video in the link below.
